Lynk & Co Cyan Racing driver Yann Ehrlacher has extended his points lead in the FIA World Touring Car Cup following a podium finish at Autodrom Most in the Czech Republic.
“We had two good races with a strong pace that promises well for the coming races. I look forward to race in my home country France next weekend. We’re leading the standings after five race weekends, and we are going to keep pushing,” said Yann Ehrlacher.
Yvan Muller drove two solid races to finish fourth in the first and sixth in the second, which was red-flagged and restarted after an incident in the first corner.
“We had the strong pace all weekend, but this track is challenging to overtake at. We have secured vital points, though, and that’s the important thing,” said Yvan Muller.
Team-mates Thed Björk and Santiago Urrutia had a tough weekend. Thed Björk claimed a strong fifth in the first race but had to pit to repair damage in the second race.
“I had a good first race where we together secured a strong result for the team. The second race was chaotic, and I got tangled up. Now I’m just going to reset and reload for the next weekend,” said Thed Björk.
Santiago Urrutia finished 14th in the first race but had to retire from the second race after being hit in the first corner chaos.
“I am thrilled that this weekend is over. Starting from the back of the grid in both races cost us everything. I got some points in the first race but was hit in the second and was stuck in the gravel. I need to work with my engineer to see if we can fix the problem we had in qualifying. I am happy for the team that scored good points, and now the focus is on Pau-Arnos next weekend,” said Santiago Urrutia.
Cyan Racing Lynk & Co (Yann Ehrlacher/Yvan Muller) has extended its championship lead, now heading Honda team Münnich Motorsport by 26 points.
The team has no rest as the next WTCR race takes place next weekend at Pau-Arnos in France on October 16-17.
