Limited-Run Vauxhall Corsa-E Gets Nova-Esque Treatment

Vauxhall is celebrating 40 years of superminis, starting with the 1982 Nova, and just as night follows day, here is a limited edition, eighties-inspired Corsa-e Anniversary Edition.

Exactly which parts are reminiscent of the Nova? Well, the Record Red paintwork is meant to recall the Carmine Red of the first Nova, as are the sports seats in tartan. And, uh, that’s about it.

Opel, however, has not been satisfied with the redesign. Based on the GS Line, you also get black 17-inch wheels, a black radiator grille, emblems, exterior mirrors and a two-tone roof to round it all off.

Inside, there’s a seven-inch colour touchscreen with a navigation system, DAB radio, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The instrument cluster is also a seven-inch display. A blind-spot warning system, electrically folding exterior mirrors, front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera are also included.

There’s an “interior number plate” to denote the car’s place in the series of 1,000 vehicles destined for the UK, and drum roll, please… a presentation box containing four pairs of Nova-inspired socks! The socks are available in small and large sizes, but we can not see the designs for ourselves just yet. But matching socks are one thing more special edition cars should have.

And if the socks do not keep you warm, the heated seats and steering wheel will.

The electric powertrain is the Corsa-e standard: 222 miles of range from a 50 kWh battery to 100 kW for an 80 per cent charge in half an hour. The 134-hp engine accelerates from 0 to 62 km/h in 8.1 seconds.

Orders are only accepted online. The Anniversary Edition is priced at £31,000, around £2.5k above the standard GS Line model. Tempted?
