This GT-R ‘t-Spec’ Will Be the Last Nissan to Get an Aus Compliance Label

No, Australian friends, you have something in your eyes. This eye-based detritus has nothing to do with the news that the last Nissan R35 GT-Rs landed in Australia.

The reason they are the last? The R35 GT-R failed the new Australian side-impact tests, and so the GT-R – and other models like the Alpine A110 and Lexus RC -F – will no longer be available as new cars.

Therefore, the last batch of cars has been imported – a range of T-Spec engines and Nismo SVs. This GT-R T-Spec in the pictures above also happens to be the last Australian Nissan to carry a compliance label – they will be fully digital from 1 December.

The T-Spec is designed to bridge the gap between the “normal” GT-R range and the Nismo cars. It features Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes, Dunlop SP Sport Maxx tyres on gold forged wheels, a carbon fibre rear spoiler and a dark green interior.

“The GT -R is Nissan’s most famous vehicle, and while this is not goodbye forever, the T-Spec and Nismo SV models close this chapter of the GT-R story in Australia,” said Adam Paterson, head of Nissan Australia.

It also has a mighty 3.8-litre twin-turbo V6, all-wheel drive and enough processing power to put most space stations to shame.

“The fact that the final version of this generation of Nissan’s performance icon will also be the last to wear a label that has been part of Australian automotive history for more than 30 years is fitting,” he added.
