2022 Suzuki W SX4 S-Cross Enters Second Generation With Major Design Overhaul and Improved Standard Equipment
Suzuki has unveiled the new SX4 S-Cross with a fresh design, mild-hybrid engine technology and higher standard equipment.
The Japanese company’s soft-roader enters its second generation with a more voluminous design featuring smoother lines and larger wheel arches. It has a new front end with a raised bonnet and piano lacquer-look grille, as well as an integrated rear spoiler and roof rails.
Suzuki says the new design means the 2022 Suzuki W SX4 S-Cross now offers a more spacious and versatile interior, as well as improved safety.
It is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system producing 127 hp – an improved version of the engine also used in the Ignis and Swift.
The 2022 Suzuki W SX4 S-Cross achieves 0-62 km/h acceleration in 9.5 seconds (10.2 seconds for all-wheel drive models) and a top speed of 121 km/h.
Top-spec models come as standard with Suzuki’s Allgrip 4WD system with four selectable modes, while the six-speed manual transmission can be upgraded to a six-speed automatic.
Two trim levels will be available: Motion priced at £24,999 and Ultra priced at £29,799.
Motion models come as standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, a 7.0-inch infotainment touchscreen, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED headlights, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, keyless entry and dual-zone automatic climate control.
Several driver assistance systems are also standard, including traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring and front and rear parking sensors.
Ultra models have a 9.0-inch touchscreen, satellite navigation, leather seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree parking camera.
Buyers can choose from six exterior colours: Solid White, Metallic Titan Dark Grey, Energetic Red, Sphere Blue, Cosmic Black and Silky Silver.
Suzuki promises CO2 emissions of 120 g/km and lower monthly fuel costs than most rivals, including the Citroën C5 Aircross, Peugeot 3008 and Seat Ateca.
“We have developed the new S-Cross as a C-segment SUV that meets the needs of the different life stages of its owners,” said chief engineer Shigeru Aoyama.
“The popularity of SUVs with advanced design and functionality is increasing worldwide, and the new S-Cross meets these needs at a higher level through a package of powerful and bold design, fuel efficiency, performance, all-wheel drive and state-of-the-art safety features.
“The interior is also packed with a host of appealing features for five adults and generous luggage space.”
The 2022 Suzuki W SX4 S-Cross is produced alongside the Vitara at Suzuki’s plant in Esztergom, Hungary.
