The 2024 Volvo XC40 Recharge and S60 Recharge have been named Best Luxury Electric SUV and Best Luxury Plug-In Hybrid, respectively, in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars. Both vehicles were selected for having the best combination of quality, efficiency and value in their respective classes.

To identify leaders for each 2024 Best Hybrid and Electric Cars award category, U.S. News evaluated 96 luxury and affordable hybrid, plug-in hybrid, and electric cars, SUVs, and trucks. U.S. News considered gas mileage and range data from the EPA, pricing information, and the consensus opinion of the automotive press. The winners have the best quality, efficiency, and value combination in their segment.

The fully electric Volvo XC40 Recharge remains a staple in Volvo Cars‘ portfolio. The compact luxury SUV offers a solid graphical design, the comfort of one-pedal drive with smooth acceleration and zero tailpipe emissions, and several large and smartly designed compartments for additional storage in the doors, under the seats, and in the trunk.

Other highlights include a removable waste bin in the centre console, a small fold-away hook in the glove compartment, and unique slots for credit and service cards. The XC40 Recharge is available in Single Motor Extended Range rear-wheel drive and Twin Motor all-wheel-drive variants, offering 248 horsepower with up to 293 miles of range and 402 horsepower with up to 254 miles of range, respectively.

The Volvo S60 Recharge is a luxury plug-in hybrid sedan built with pride at the company’s Ridgeville, South Carolina plant. With one-pedal and all-wheel drives, it performs with agility while delivering relaxed control and a smooth, powerful drive.

The plug-in hybrid offers 455 horsepower while providing an estimated 74 MPGe combined/30 MPG city/33 MPG highway. When fully charged and in Pure Mode, the S60 Recharge can travel up to 41 miles with zero tailpipe emissions.

Both vehicles have an infotainment system jointly developed with Google, featuring built-in Google Maps. Intuitive and convenient, this next-generation infotainment system offers customers a helpful, personalized, and seamless driving experience.

Volvo Cars aims to become a fully electric car maker by 2030 and is committed to continuously reducing its carbon footprint. Its ambition is to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2040. The 2024 XC40 Recharge has a starting MSRP of $52,450, and the 2024 S60 Recharge begins at $51,950.
