Volvo Car USA Sets All-Time September Sales Record

Volvo Car USA set an all-time September sales record with 10,946 cars sold during the month, beating the previous record of 10,566 vehicles in 2005. Sales were up 65 per cent compared to the same month last year, and it is the fifth consecutive month of growth.

For the first nine months of 2023, the company sold 92,125 cars, an increase of 27.6 per cent compared to last year.

The sale of Recharge models—those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain—grew 161 per cent compared to September last year and comprised a 27.9 per cent share.

The Volvo XC90 was the top-selling model, with 3,223 cars sold, followed by the XC60 at 3,211 and the XC40 at 2,540. The share of fully electric vehicles accounted for 10.3 per cent of overall sales.

Canada sold 1,266 cars in September, up 42 per cent over the same month last year, with Recharge models taking a 28.4 per cent share. The U.S. and Canada commercial region sold 12,212 cars, up 62.4 per cent compared with the same month last year.
