AI-Designed Cars of the Future Unveiled

3,627

They’re some of the most popular cars on the UK’s roads – pictured here as never seen before in a glimpse of what an AI-designed future could look like.

Experts from Leasecar.uk and LeaseElectricCar.co.uk have leapt into the future of vehicle design by using machine learning to reimagine versions of some of the most popular current models.

Carmakers can spend over £2.5 billion on a single design, but AI can streamline the process, dramatically reducing development time and cost.

Experts created the new designs in minutes, mirroring the model’s machine-learning tools that will use to generate future cars.

AI-driven modelling will create car designs that are highly aesthetically pleasing and can be evaluated quickly, doing away with the need for expensive consumer testing.

From reimagined classics to cutting-edge electric vehicles, AI opens up new horizons for car design. Here’s a glimpse of what the future may hold for some iconic models:

Vauxhall Corsa

The UK’s best-selling car typically features sleek lines, a modern exterior and a distinctive grill. AI reimagines the Corsa as a sportier shape with more aggressive masculine styling to reflect the tastes of future generations.

Nissan Qashqai

The worldwide favourite for its practicality, versatility and comfortable driving experience features a modern and stylish exterior design. With a bold front grille and distinctive headlights, the reimagined version has an athletic, contemporary appearance.

Ford Puma

The compact crossover SUV looks more like a mini-Porsche when AI generates its future shape. It features a modern aerodynamic exterior design that sets it apart and combines sleek lines with bold proportions, giving it a dynamic look.

Kia Sportage

The new Sportage is one of the fastest-selling cars in the UK thanks to its roomy interior and evocative contemporary design. An AI-designed version builds on this with a more muscular appearance and larger stylish alloy wheels.

Nissan Juke

The reimagined Juke has a bold and unique exterior that evokes a sense of sportiness and individuality. The sloping roof and high wheel arches give it a compact and dynamic appearance, while the prominent headlights and grille give it a real presence.

Hyundai Tuscon

The current Tuscon has a ‘Fluid Sculpture’ to its shape with a prominent grille and a streamlined silhouette. An AI-designed version accentuates the design with more pronounced wheel arches, aggressively styled alloys, and a futuristic front end.

Tesla Model Y

The sloping roofline and hatchback-style rear end give the Tesla Model Y the look of a Porsche Cayenne. Blending practicality, performance and efficiency in an electric SUV package, the redesigned Y will turn heads if it ever comes to market.

MINI

The British brand is known for its iconic compact cars characterised by their unique retro-inspired design. The AI-designed model’s distinctively boxy but rounded shape is immediately recognisable as a MINI with more modern futuristic lines.

Volkswagen T- Roc

Having grown in popularity thanks to its stylish design, practicality and versatility, the new T-Roc feels more rooted in its current format. With sharp lines and dynamic proportions, the AI model reflects VW’s contemporary design language.

Ford Fiesta

The American compact car has been in production since 1976, but the machine-developed design retains nothing of its late twentieth-century heritage. The new Fiesta has a genuine sporty appeal: modern, dynamic, sleek, and aerodynamic.

Tim Alcock from Leasecar. uk and LeaseElectricCar.co.uk said: “The automotive industry is on the brink of a monumental shift with the integration of Artificial Intelligence in car design and technology.

“As technological advancements continue to reshape our world, leading automakers are exploring innovative ways to enhance the design, driving experience, safety features, and overall performance.

“Manufacturers spend billions on finding the most aesthetically pleasing designs to increase sales. However, AI is poised to drastically reduce the time and costs using predictive and generative AI models.

“Already, we are seeing AI text-to-image generators that allow users to create images by describing what they want to see using natural language.

“Aesthetically pleasing or innovative models can now be created on a standard corporate laptop.

“As manufacturers continue to develop and utilise AI technology, our cars of the future will not be created from multiple designs being run through consumer testing but by machines that understand what we are looking for in a car better than we do.”
