New Images of Noble m500 Land Ahead of First Deliveries Later This Year

Noble Automotive has released new images and information about its M500 – the “junior” supercar that the company debuted at the 2018 Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Headlines include the presence of Ford’s 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 (yes, the very same one used in the Ford GT ) and a total output of around 550bhp. In 2018, Noble TG had announced that the M500 would get a 3.0-litre heart from Ford. So we are pleased to see that the GT’s engine now sits in the middle of the steel chassis. Power is sent to the rear wheels only, and the body is made of fibreglass composite – a cheaper alternative to the carbon body of the M600.

Take a look at the pictures of Noble’s working prototype above. It’s a pretty but subtle-looking thing. The M500 is expected to cost around £150,000, and its rivals include the Maserati MC20, the Audi R8 and the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

There is another vital piece of news that these pictures convey. When first unveiled a couple of years ago, Peter Boutwood of Noble MD told us that the M500 would feature a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. “I think it’s a bit sad, but a car at this level needs a manual gearbox to sell. Hopefully, there will be a manual gearbox,” Boutwood said at the time. Take a look inside this Alcantara-filled cabin now.

Yes, that’s a six-speed open-ratio manual gearbox – and the M500 will either have that or nothing at all. We can not wait to drive it.

There’s also a proper handbrake, a large central infotainment screen and a digital display for the gauges. The M500 is supposed to be a bit more “user-friendly” than its big brother, the M600, but things like anti-lock brakes may still fall by the wayside.
