Historic Second Place in World Championship on the Line for the Iron Dames in Bahrain

The all-female Line-up of Sarah Bovy, Rahel Frey and Michelle Gatting aims high once again in the 8 Hours of Bahrain this weekend when the 2023 FIA World Endurance Championship reaches its exciting climax.

The pink trio completes its third and most competitive season in the hotly contested LMGTE AM class at the wheel of the #85 Porsche 911 RSR-19. After six races in a hard-fought season, the battle for the championship podium is still open going into the final round at Bahrain International Circuit.

Currently second in the Teams’ Championship behind the untouchable Corvette Racing #33, their goal is to maintain this position and become the first all-female team in the history of the FIA WEC to finish as runner-up to the champion.

This second place overall results from a relentless fighting spirit and exceptional consistency at the front of the field, highlighted by the fact they have led every race in class in 2023.

Bahrain was a happy hunting ground for the Iron Dames last season, with a podium finish.

Undoubtedly, the weekend in Bahrain will be electric, with an eight-hour day-night race in which anything can happen. They arrive here with 79 points, six clear of their nearest challenger – AF Corse #54.

Practice begins on Thursday with two 90-minute practice sessions before a one-hour final practice on Friday morning. Qualifying is held over 15 minutes in the afternoon, while the race begins on Saturday at 2 p.m. local time (midday CET).
