Spectators watched in awe as the young racer quickly became a force of nature, dominating the highest echelon of competitive motorsport with Benetton, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz. His legacy left on motorsport is truly undeniable.

Full Throttle – The Schumacher Collection represents a carefully curated selection of 160 artefacts from a glittering career, assembled over 30 years in a private Japanese collection, and will be open for bidding on rmsothebys.com from 16 August – 6 September 2023.

Highlights

1994 Michael Schumacher Bell Benetton Formula 1 helmet – Confirmed by a Bell Certificate of Authenticity and worn by Schumacher when he raced for Benetton in the 1994 Formula 1 World Championship, his first championship-winning year, where he took eight wins and six pole positions, with Benetton finishing second in the Constructors’ Championship (Estimate: $40,000 – $60,000).

1989 Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost Signed Formula 1 Moet Champagne Bottle – An extraordinary artefact, believed to have been signed by racing legends Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost sometime during the 1989 Formula 1 World Championship (Estimate: $5,000 – $10,000).

2002 Michael Schumacher Schuberth Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Helmet – Certified by Jens Munser Designs as an authentic example, this helmet was delivered on 4 July 2002, a championship-winning year. It was used in the Japanese and Hungarian Grand Prix events. In Japan, Schumacher was in pole position, set the fastest lap, and finished 1st. In Hungary, he qualified in 2nd, set the quickest lap, and finished 2nd (Estimate: $20,000 – $25,000).

2003 Michael Schumacher Scuderia Ferrari OMP Formula 1 Signed Racing Suit – Worn on 14 September 2003 at the Italian Grand Prix, where Schumacher qualified in pole position and finished 1st overall after setting the fastest lap. Schumacher was declared Formula 1 Champion in 2003 (Estimate: $12,000 – $15,000).

2001 Michael Schumacher Schuberth Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 Helmet – Certified by Jens Munser Designs as an authentic example and hailing from Schumacher’s championship-winning 2001 season, this helmet was delivered on 22 January 2001.

It was used in the Australian, Malaysian, and Brazilian Grand Prix events. Schumacher took pole position and finished 1st with the fastest lap in Australia; in Malaysia, he qualified at the front of the grid and finished 1st; and in Brazil, the German qualified on pole and finished in 2nd place. The visor is signed (Estimate: $20,000 – $25,000).
