KW Automotive Customers Win DTM and WRC

Many KW automotive Groups motorsport customers finished the motorsports season 2022 with top performance. The WRC driver Kalle Rovanperä and his co-pilot Jonne Halttunen earned the world championship in their Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 (#69).

Six weeks before the season’s end, the 22-year-old Finn will drive the upcoming events in Spain and Japan as the youngest WRC champion of all time. Our DTM partners of the KW automotive group have more than one reason to celebrate. 

They won several titles at the DTM final at the German Hockenheimring: Olaf Manthey won the DTM Classic Cup in the BMW 635 CSi (#6). KW sales employee Tim Heinemann wins the DTM Trophy in the Toyota GR Supra GT4 (#90), and the BMW Motorsport Team Schubert Motorsport is twice as happy because they won the DTM team classification and the drivers’ championship with Sheldon Van der Linde in their BMW M4 GT3 (#31).

 While some motorsport customers still fight for their title wins and victories on the circuit, gravel, snow, or mud, BMW Motorsport and Toyota Gazoo Racing have already won important championships. The new BMW M4 GT3 customer racing car showed its best side in its debut year.

The racing car, homologated with its five-way adjustable KW solid piston dampers, celebrated impressive successes in various long-distance races and GT3 races. Schubert Motorsport and Sheldon Van der Linde won the DTM championship. They wave goodbye from the first place in the driver and team classifications.

Champion for the Second Time

From the PC with the SimRaing simulation, RaceRoom to real motorsport is no longer a unique motorsport resume. In addition to numerous SimRacing titles, Tim Heinemann, who works in motorsport sales at KW, has won various races and the championship in the DTM Trophy for the second time in 2022. This time on a Toyota GR Supra GT4 (#90) of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Germany powered by Ring Racing team. But the Japanese car manufacturer and motorsport customer of the KW automotive group has some more successes to celebrate this season.

Together with the KW subsidiary Reiger Suspension, which specializes in off-road suspension and racing dampers, Toyota has already won the driver’s championship with the Finnish Toyota driver Kalle Rovanperä in the Toyota GR Yaris Rally1 (#69)! In the two remaining WRC rounds in 2022, the Toyota teams still have chances to win the WRC manufacturers’ classification.

Expansion of Special OE Projects

 It recently became official that the current Ford Focus ST can now be ordered directly from Ford with an optional KW chassis. In addition to Ford, more car manufacturers are commissioning the owner-managed company to develop and manufacture chassis components.

In the customer sports program of BMW and Porsche, such as the GT3 racing cars in the DTM, KW developments have been relied on for years. The new Porsche 911 GT3 R (992) will also be equipped with KW motorsport dampers like the latest BMW M4 GT4 2023.

Today, there is hardly a motorsport series in the world where components from the KW automotive group are not used. For example, most of them rely on Reiger dampers and dominate the Dakar Rally in the rally and off-road area.
