This Is How to Make Your Electric Motor Look Like a V8

Want to convert your classic car into an electric vehicle but worried that every time you open the bonnet, it would look like there’s been an explosion in PC World? Good news! Canadian company Webb Motorworks has developed a way to mask electric motors to look like old-school American engines.

Yes, these electric motors are available as a small block, flathead or Hemi V8s, and there will even be a V12 coming soon. It’s not just a vanity project, either – any motor can be installed directly into the appropriate classic using the standard motor mounts. Webb even reckons you can fit the entire drivetrain in a weekend. Ingenious.

Electric motor performance figures vary according to customer preference, but there’s the option of between 250 and 375bhp combined with 516lb-ft of torque. You can also fit your standard exhaust manifold and a hollowed-out carburettor to complete the look.

Take a look at the SEMA pictures below to see what the engines look like in a ’32 Ford Deuce Coupe, a ’57 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible, and a ’69 Camaro Z/28. What is your take?
