Mulholland Group Unveils New Legend 480 Sports Coupe

A new British-based company, Mulholland Automotive, part of Mulholland Group that has been supplying Formula One and top-level motorsport along with the vast majority of the world’s supercar manufacturers for more than 20 years is using its heritage to produce the Legend 480 Sports Coupe, a two-seater sportscar of its own.

The lightweight V8-powered machine has been designed and developed by Mulholland Automotive of Derby as a pure ‘drivers’ car’ that will produce both thrilling performance and tactile class-leading experience.

Mulholland Automotive’s owner, Graham Mulholland says the order books for the Legend 480 – that he believes is the true successor for TVR recipe for the 21st century – are now open.

The Legend 480 – the 480 reflecting the car’s horsepower output – follows the blueprint of the classic British sportscar: front-engined, rear-wheeled drive, manual transmission, two-seater coupe engineered to be lightweight and yet beautifully and stylishly designed and sculptured.

“As one of Europe’s leading advanced component engineering manufacturers, we have been a specialist supplier to most high-profile motor racing teams along with practically every premium branded niche-vehicle manufacturer which we will continue to supply,” said Mulholland. “The Legend 480 however, enables us to showcase our technology, expertise and capabilities to a much bigger global audience plus it allows us to celebrate the combustion engine before moving to emerging technology, which we want to help co-develop. We want these new vehicles to be halo for our group activities.

“I’m an ex-TVR owner, and I count myself privileged to say I worked with the famed previous owner Peter Wheeler on various cheeky projects. To me, the marque excelled by true principles of what a sports car should be and delivered a truly, exhilarating, driving experience. The Legend 480 as our first vehicle will replicate a proven formula, but we will be using the latest advanced manufacturing know-how and a world-class supply chain to achieve an expected quality and ownership experience. This purity, however, will translate through our use of technology and our experiences we have in our team at our disposal. We can move quickly and be very credible.”

To transform his dream into a reality, Mulholland turned to former TVR design chief and long-term friend of the Mulholland Group, Damian McTagget to sketch and sculpture the Legend 480.

The car’s carbon fibre chassis and provocative sculptured lines will be developed by Mulholland Composites, using the exact processes developed and used to produce F1 and GT racers alike. The Legend 480 will be built at Mulholland Group’s state-of-the-art factory in the heart of Derby.

“The Legend 480 is a truly focused machine – great design underpinned by superior engineering produced by an incredibly experienced and well-established team,” concluded Mulholland. “We are ready to start production and take customers with us on a journey. “As the UK emerges from these challenging past few months, we are ready and privileged to start this journey. We’re on the hunt for true drivers, who want to be part of this and help us on our journey. Form an orderly queue and my team, and I can’t wait to introduce you and our firstborn – The Legend 480.”

The three business units in Mulholland Group are split into Mulholland Technology – selling advanced technology and manufacturing know-how; Mulholland Composites – selling composite components and assemblies into F1, WEC, WRC and GT racing market; Mulholland Automotive – selling Sports cars with a forward-facing open approach with the ambition to quickly add three further vehicles to the range and to also immediately have a club feel with customers enjoying been part of the journey.
