Moke is Back and Better Than Ever

From British classic to Caribbean icon, Moke has become a symbol of fun in the sun. What began as a military invention for the British army in the late 1950s became a cultural touch point with celebrity fans like Brigitte Bardot, Princess Margaret, Jane Birkin, the Beach Boys, and even James Bond.

Created by the British Motor Company and Alec Issigonis, the father of the original Austin Mini, the Moke was designed to be combat-ready, a car that could be parachuted from the skies. While its life as a military vehicle didn’t last long, the open-air car became beloved by stars, surfers, and Caribbean travellers. Moke became synonymous with effortless, breezy island chic and has appeared in 4 James Bond movies.

Moke America is a 20th-century collectable car reinvented and upgraded with 21st-century eco-friendly sustainable electric power and compliant with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS), available exclusively in the USA. Each electric Moke is hand-built to order in Sarasota, FL., and customers can choose from 12 signature colours or customize to their liking with multiple seating configurations and other stylish options.

The Moke is 100 per cent electric, street-legal, and eco-friendly. Classified as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) or Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV), the Moke reaches a top speed of 25 MPH and is street-legal on all roads at 35 MPH or less.

Plug it into any 110 outlet for 40 miles of fun; no unique charging stations are required. With over 5,000 Mokes on the road and over $100M in sales since its inception, Moke America sees no signs of slowing down.

Moke America CEO and Founder Todd Rome reintroduced the Moke in 2016 with a few critical changes. Not only is the open-air vehicle electric, but it’s larger, sturdier, and more modern than its predecessor. Rome expects double-digit growth over the next decade, with traditional car companies leaning into electric vehicles.

By 2030, brands such as Jaguar, Bentley, Cadillac, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Rolls-Royce plan to produce 100 per cent electric lineups, but Moke America is already here. Between high fuel prices and the growth of electric vehicles as an eco-friendly alternative to gas guzzlers, electric cars are scratching the surface of the category’s potential.

“I first fell in love with the Moke from my vacations to St. Barts. I founded Moke America with the idea of literally reinventing the wheel. The classic Moke, originally from Great Britain, had numerous problems but had an unbelievable look and feel and defined the word cool. The Moke touched on cultural points from surf culture to Brigitte Bardot and many other celebrities like The Beach Boys and James Bond. We reinvented a 20th-century collectable car with 21st-century green-friendly electric power. Even better, all the cars are built in Sarasota, FL in the USA. ”  – Todd Rome, Moke America.

Moke America has also debuted two special limited-edition James Bond 007 Mokes available for sale, including the “007 San Monique” and the “60 Years of Bond” Moke in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the film franchise.

Both models pay homage to James Bond’s eternal style. Celebrity owners and aficionados include the Kardashians, Joe Jonas, Sophie Turner, Jay Leno, Pamela Anderson, David Letterman, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez, Martha Stewart, Katharine McPhee, and more. Having partnered with luxury brands, such as Louis Vuitton and Valentino, and luxury hotel groups, such as SLS, Setai, and The Breakers.
