Volvo Car USA Embraces Timeless Design With Popular Swedish Brands in NYC Pop-up Shop

Volvo Car USA hosts Swedish brands STUTTERHEIM, Stiksen, and Melyon at a New York City pop-up shop to bring a little bit of Scandinavian culture – complete with native refreshments and a performance by Grammy-nominated artist LUCIIA – to the Big Apple next month at the company’s Manhattan west-side studio.

Whether it’s utilizing materials from natural, recycled and renewable sources or borrowing from Scandinavian principles to create lasting designs, Volvo is striving to make the world a better place. The Swedish automaker is committed to a more sustainable planet by being 100 per cent electric by 2030 and climate neutral by 2040.

LUCIIA is a rhythm and blues artist with one foot in Havana, Cuba and the other in Malmö, Sweden, best known for her single ‘WHAT YOU DO TO ME’ and opening for Coldplay during their Music of the Spheres World Tour in Sweden this past summer.

She was recently nominated in the Soul and R&B Song of the Year category for ‘365’ at the 2023 Grammy Awards in Sweden. Performing some of her hit singles at the end of the two-day pop-up, LUCIIA will fill the room with the unique sounds of her mixed heritage.

Swedish rainwear brand STUTTERHEIM is known for its timeless and defiant designs. With no shortage of rainy days, cloudy skies and dark and moody weather in Sweden, defiance is deeply embedded within every Swede and lies at the brand’s core. The combination of practicality and style creates popular pieces that are modern, classic, functional and defiant.

Stiksen is a Swedish cap maker the founders created in response to teachers who stopped them from wearing hats in the classroom. While focusing on quality and fit, Stiksen keeps sustainability in mind by using only certified cotton, recycled wool and recyclable packaging that meets the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS).

Stockholm-based skincare brand Melyon has created a line of products made with people of colour in mind that focuses on conditions commonly found among darker skin tones while still being suitable for most skin types.

Founded by Swedish-Ghanian model and entrepreneur Roger Dupé, Meylon has roots in West Africa and is an inclusive force in an exclusive industry. The brand combines the best of nature and science to create safe and ethical products with proven results.

The general public is invited to the Volvo Studio Manhattan, 565 Eleventh Avenue, New York, NY 10036, on Sept. 1 from 12 to 7 p.m. and Sept. 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. After the two-day pop-up, guests can enjoy refreshments and musical performances by LUCIIA on Sept. 2 from 6 to 10 p.m.
