Volvo Car USA and Canada sold 8,774 cars in February, down 6.3 per cent from last year’s period. Recharge models—those with a fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrain—accounted for 33.8 per cent in February, an increase of 6.2 per cent from last year. Fully electric cars accounted for 5.9 per cent of total sales, a decrease of 58.3 per cent from the same period the previous year.
Sales in the US reached 7,920 cars in February, down 7.4 per cent from the same period last year. Recharge sales represented 32.5 per cent, an increase of 5.5 per cent compared to the previous year.
In the US, the XC60 compact luxury SUV was the top-selling model, with 2,542 cars sold during February, followed by the XC90 midsize luxury SUV (2,468 cars) and the XC40 small luxury SUV (1,627 cars).
Sales in Canada reached 854 cars, up 6.5 per cent over the same period last year. Recharge sales accounted for 45.9 per cent, an increase of 10.7 per cent compared to the previous year.
