Did You Know Your Car Had These Secret Features?

Motoring experts have revealed the hidden features in cars most drivers will never have heard of. Experts have revealed the seven features drivers can take full advantage of.

Many drivers never get around to reading through their vehicle’s handbook. This can lead to drivers not realising the full potential of their car.

Some icons on the dashboard let drivers know which side the fuel cap is on.

There are also buttons which allow eco-driving to help save money on fuel and tyre pressure monitoring.

Tim Alcock, motoring expert at LeaseCar.uk, said: “A vehicle handbook is a golden ticket to becoming at one with your car.

“Some drivers don’t realise looking through the handbook will help them understand the full range of features many vehicles have.

“There are buttons in some cars that allow for eco-driving and cruise control, which can be a game-changer for the motorway, making the journey less of a chore.

“Symbols on the dashboard can also display handy features such as letting you know which side the fuel cap is on in case you forget when pulling up to the petrol station.”

Here Are Some Secret Car Features Your Vehicle May Have:

  1. Eco-Driving

Eco-driving helps to save fuel and reduce emissions. The “ECO” button in a car will switch on its function. It can be found in driving settings on the electronic dashboard for more modern vehicles.

  1. Heat Mirrors

If you’re looking to heat the mirrors quickly, your car may have a dial with an icon of three arrows pointing up towards a window/mirror-like image.

  1. Fuel Cap Information

A small arrow next to the fuel icon will let you know which side the fuel cap is on. While you likely know by now which side it’s on, it’s still handy.

  1. Air Recirculation

If your car has an icon of the vehicle with a u-turn arrow within it, you can recirculate air from inside the car to help cool down a hot interior.

  1. Disable Traction Control

The button with a car with swiggly lines behind it with “OFF” underneath will turn off traction control. This will help you get more of a manual grip on the vehicle, allowing for smoother acceleration and wheel control when stuck on icy surfaces.

  1. Tyre Monitoring

The horseshoe-shaped symbol with an exclamation mark in the middle will alert you that your tyres are running on low pressure. Make sure not to ignore this if the symbol lights up.

  1. More Power

The “ECT” (Electronically Controlled Transmission) button on a car gives you more power in acceleration, which can help you greatly if you’re stuck on muddy or icy roads.
