Iron Lynx has revealed its 2023 line-up for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe and Asia. The Italian racing team will field eight cars, spanning each of the European series’ four fiercely contested categories and the prestigious Asian championship.
This marks a much-anticipated return for Iron Lynx to Super Trofeo, a series which yielded massive success for the team during its first year of competition. Iron Lynx eventually became Vice World Champions and Vice European Champions in the Pro-Am category in 2018. Hence, returning to the series presents the team with a long overdue second bite of the proverbial cherry.
Iron Lynx’s full-season commitment – with Round 1 at Circuit Paul Ricard, 2-4 June – arrives after a successful wildcard outing for Iron Dames in November 2022. Doriane Pin and Michelle Gatting competed in the headlining Pro class, claiming an emphatic pole position and following it up with P2 in the race at the Grand Finals, an event hosted by the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve, Portugal.
The 2023 line-up itself includes drivers from across Europe and Southeast Asia. The Portuguese Rodrigo Testa and the Belgian Ugo de Wilde will compete in the series’ prestigious Pro category at the wheel of the #10 car. At the same time, the Pro-Am class will see driver pairings of Emanuele Zonzini and Emanuel Colombini (both hailing from San Marino) and the Dutchmen Yelmer Buurman and Nigel Schoonderwoerd.
The Lamborghini Cup entries, meanwhile, will feature Malaysian-born Kumar Prabakaran alongside the father-son duo of Luciano Privitelio (San Marino) and Donovan Privitelio (France). In the Am category, French racer Claude-Yves Gosselin will be partnered by compatriot Marc Rostan for the opening three rounds and at the Grand Finals.
In addition to its European efforts, Iron Lynx will contest Super Trofeo Asia with a two-car entry. Prabakaran will drive the #37 car at three rounds (Sepang, Fuji and Shanghai) alongside Mark Darwin and Loh Lean Shen, who are signed up for a full-season entry in the #33 car. The Super Trofeo Asia season begins in Sepang (5-7 May).
Iron Lynx Team Principal and CEO Andrea Piccini said: “We can’t wait to head back to where it all began for Iron Lynx. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe was the first championship we competed in 2018; we had our most recent entry at the Grand Finals with Iron Dames. We have nice memories of this series, and we are proud to be making our return with so many Iron Lynx cars.”
