In Test: Chiptuning With BMW Power

DTE Systems not only produces chip tunings – but DTE also tests them, of course. In the first major internal comparison test, the tuners put the M2 CS against the M2 Competition with PowerControl on the track.

In the process, the chip tuners put both vehicles through their paces on MAHA’s in-house test bench. On-site in Recklinghausen, the DTE engineering team, meticulously determined the power and the expected acceleration in several test runs.

The BMW M2 CS produced an impressive 485 hp and 558 NM. The M2 Competition already showed up without tuning with 411 hp and 546 Nm. After the installation of PowerControl, it has a sporty 472 hp and 621 NM under the hood. Just under 1.5 seconds of acceleration, the tuned M2 Competition should now be faster (according to elasticity measurement from 100 – 200 km/h).

Testing took place in the early morning hours at the airfield in Stadtlohn-Vreden. On the test track, the sports giant CS faced the challenger. The measurement utilizing the Dragy box was to determine the time of 100 – 200 km/h and the winner.

With 9.16 seconds, the M2 CS set a great time. Despite a slower launch, the DTE-M2 passed the M2 CS with an impressive 7.97 seconds and was the clear winner of the Drag Race. 1.19 seconds difference, which is unique.

Even in racing, the DTE chiptuning “PowerControl” has a 5-year product warranty.
