Jubilee Edition Peugeot To Get Penny-Sized Steering Wheel

Peugeot’s next-generation i-cockpit will have a steering wheel the size of a one pence piece, Autoscommunity.com has learned.

The exclusive ‘Jubilee Edition’ celebrates 70 years of Her Majesty the Queen and a decade of deliberately small Peugeot steering wheels. Sources confirm that this penny-sized wheel allows drivers to steer using only their thumb in a revolutionary new design that Peugeot claims represent ” the reinvented wheel’s reinvention”.

“We recently challenged the traditional convention of the car to have a steering wheel that is so big it’s fun to drive,” a Peugeot insider told Autoscommunity.com. “The next logical step? To make it as tiny as possible.

“We used to build normal interiors that allowed drivers to experience the full range of our inherently sporty suspension set-ups, like the oversteer of a 306 GTI. We can develop that classic Peugeot handling by making the steering wheel indescribably small.”

The revolutionary new steering wheel layout will be introduced first on the 208, then the 308 and finally on Peugeot’s SUVs. “We were going to raise the Jubilee steering wheel in the 508, but then we remembered that nobody buys the 508.

“Anyway, our data shows that the new penny wheel is 98 per cent more useful than the current i-cockpit,” added an insider.
