BMW Launches Special Edition M3 with Functioning Indicators

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, BMW’s M division is releasing a special edition M3 with working turn signals.

If this special edition is successful, BMW will take the unprecedented step of introducing “turn signals that indicate” across the model range, according to a BMW insider told Autoscommunity.com.

“BMW has never been beholden to the traditional norms of automotive design,” a BMW insider said. “Our cars have always been a bit out of the way, about half a metre from the rear bumper.

“And at some point in the early nineties, we realised that we had never got round to wiring the indicators in the M3. No driver ever seemed to notice, so we never bothered to hook them up. But on our special anniversary edition, we decided it might be good to inform other road users of the M3’s intended direction of travel.

The operating indicator levers are offered in the ‘Wellness and Convenience M Pack Pro+ III’. The pack, designed to highlight the ‘friendly side of the M3’, also includes CD with whale sounds and a giant mask to cover the car’s awful snout.
