Hennessey Starts Production of Velociraptor 600
Hennessey has started production of the Velociraptor 600, a modified version of the Ford F-150 Raptor. The 558 hp version from the Texan tuner reaches Ford’s 100 km/h mark in 4.2 seconds thanks to a series of upgrades to the 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged V6 petrol engine.
New intake systems, an enlarged intercooler and revised engine management ensure that the Velociraptor makes the quarter-mile sprint in just 12.9 seconds – a full second faster than the standard Raptor.
The Velociraptor has 672 lb ft of torque – a third more than the Raptor – and Brembo six-piston front brakes are offered as an option to increase stopping power.
Despite these modifications, the Velociraptor 600 still has a three-year warranty.
Customers can equip their Velociraptor with new front and rear bumpers and 20-inch special wheels, while the off-road upgrade package includes 37-inch all-terrain tyres and a suspension levelling kit.
The Velociraptor 600 will be produced in a run of just 250 examples and will cost “typically around $115,000” (84.000 £).
The truck will make its public debut at the Barrett Jackson auction in Arizona on 22 January, with deliveries to customers beginning immediately afterwards.
Hennessey founder and CEO John Hennessey said, “The Velociraptor 600 has been our most popular vehicle for years. With production of the third-generation truck now underway, we expect to build hundreds of models by 2022.
“The production Raptor is a fabulous and very fast vehicle. Our customers are excited that we can take its power and performance to a new level.”
Since its founding in 1991, Hennessey has modified more than 12,000 vehicles, from muscle cars to pick-up trucks. The company is also responsible for the 270-mile Venom GT hypercar and is currently working on the Venom F5, its 1817-horsepower successor.
The company also recently announced plans to launch a six-wheel, 2400-hp, four-seat electric grand tourer in 2026, known as Project Deep Space.
