BMW Group Middle East showed its support for the next generation of creative minds together with AGMC, the official BMW Group importer for Dubai, Sharjah and the Northern Emirates, at the UAE’s first ParOne Invitational STEAMathalon.
Held at The Els Club in Dubai, the ParOne STEAMathalon saw teams of talented youngsters take part in a competitive golf tournament using their artificial intelligence (AI) GolfBots. Each team used the skills and knowledge learned in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM) classes to build, maintain and control their advanced AI GolfBots.
ParOne STEAMathalon is designed to nurture young talent in the field of AI, instil a love of creativity and engineering among the students and boost their technical, teamwork and interpersonal skills as they overcame a series of challenges.
Innovative programmes such as the ParOne STEAMathalon complement BMW Group’s long-standing global commitment to initiatives that enable young minds to reach their full potential through a combination of exciting, educational and industry-focused events.
The BMW Group regularly hosts programmes designed to stimulate youngsters, to foster a love of innovation, promote sustainability and develop the next generation of mobility through teaching practical skills and encouraging research in schools and universities across the UAE, the region and beyond.

At the heart of ParOne STEAMathalon was the goal that each team successfully design, create, and operate an AI GolfBot to compete in a custom mini-course intended for the golf tournament.
Dr. Hamid Haqparwar, Managing Director BMW Group Middle East, said: “BMW Group Middle East is a proud supporter of creativity and innovation here in the region and was delighted to be part of the UAE’s first ParOne STEAMathalon in Dubai. Our success here in the Middle East has always been based on long-term thinking and innovative technology. These young minds are the engineers and developers of the future and we are very happy having been part of this incredible event that encouraged and nurtured the creative talents of tomorrow.”
ParOne STEAMathalon celebrated the achievements of the teams in a variety of categories including most creative, best effort in completing the golf course, and sportsmanship. Judges scored the teams on innovation, creativity, sustainability, positivity, the overall performance of their AI GolfBots and how well they embraced and engaged with vital 21st-century skills.
Ayhan Olcer, CEO of AGMC, commented: “ParOne STEAMathalon’s focus on AI development and its many practical uses resulted in the teams creating some fantastically competitive and capable devices. This event helped to raise the bar for what can be achieved when students embrace essential science, technology, engineering, art and math subjects both inside and out of the classroom.”
Speaking on the #ParOne STEAMathalon, Aaditya Tangri, co-founder of STEAMathalon, mentioned that it was a perfect alignment of synergies partnering with BMW Group Middle East and AGMC.
“The BMW is well regarded for engineering excellence and innovative design. In BMW Group Middle East and AGMC, we had the perfect Intelligence Partner for the 2019 ParOne STEAMathalon that served as an example to all participating learners. Having the exciting opportunity to win the prestigious BMW Golfsport trophy as a top prize further motivated learners to bring their A game during competitions,” Tangri said.
