Cadillac’s Lightweight, Sophisticated, and Tech-Outfitted 2018 XT5 Arrives in the Middle East

With high levels of fuel economy, driving dynamics and interior space, the XT5 is a lightweight crossover with a unique lightweight design structure. Cadillac’s crossover embodies the brand’s expertise for lightweight and agile driving dynamics. This was achieved using innovative techniques includes the use of laser welding, ultra-high-strength steel and advanced analytics that ensure a stronger structure, excellent crash performance, yet less overall bulk.

The XT5’s reputation for connectivity is further bolstered by additional USB ports, which will be available in the 2018 model. The XT5’s mobile friendliness is evident with storage for both phones and tablets in the center console and charging ports conveniently accessible in the front and rear seats.

Christian Soemmer, Managing Director of Cadillac Middle East, said, “With the 2018 XT5, we set the benchmark for creating a versatile crossover. Crafted to high standards of design, technology, and safety features, the XT5 resonates with Middle East customers. We are confident that the Cadillac XT5 is an example of innovation, setting the stage for expanding the Cadillac crossover lineup in the coming months as part of our new brand strategy.”

Bringing a high level of sophistication that showcases Cadillac’s evolving design language, the XT5 architecture gives the vehicle a firmly planted stance and a lean and sleek look. It has a strong visual presence with proportions that convey the driving experience and the lightweight construction underneath the surface.

Like all Cadillac models, the interior is assembled with cut-and-sewn wrapped panels, rather than a reliance on the molded surfaces that dominate mainstream vehicles. The XT5’s interior is based on a philosophy of clean, modern elegance and craftsmanship. Interior surfaces inside the XT5 are wider and more horizontal in orientation, emphasizing space-efficiency. The rear-seat legroom in the 2018 XT5 is impressive as the rear seat reclines and slides, as well.

The XT5 Platinum includes unique interior and exterior trim and materials and combines them with the highest technology features.  In total, the XT5 includes five interior color and trim choices, with decorative trim options ranging from carbon fiber to two types of aluminum and four types of genuine wood.

Cadillac’s XT5 is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine with an SAE-certified peak output of 310 horsepower (231 kW) and 367 Nm (271 lb-ft) of torque. Cadillac’s stop/start technology automatically stops and starts the engine when the vehicle is stationary, saving fuel and reducing emissions while enhancing the quietness expected of a luxury vehicle.

An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard for the XT5, with Electronic Precision Shift –electronically controlled transmission shifter that reduces noise and vibration. The standard twin clutch all-wheel-drive system continuously and automatically delivers excellent traction across a variety of conditions.

Standard on XT5 Standard and Luxury trims are the 18-inch wheels, while the Premium Luxury and Platinum models include 20-inch wheels. All versions with 20-inch wheels have a Continuous Damping Control system included, managing ride control in real-time. Additional ride bushings on the rear cradle are exclusive to the XT5 Platinum model, tuned to provide added ride comfort for rear seat passengers.

Setting a high standard for technology and safety features, the 2018 XT5 features the second-generation Cadillac user experience system for connectivity and control as a standard equipment. A fast and powerful processor provides quick response and accuracy.

Cadillac’s patented new industry-leading Rear Camera Mirror system is standard on 2018 XT5 Platinum models. In addition, XT5 features Cadillac’s Driver Awareness and Driver Assist packages to aid vision and collision avoidance.  These include automatic front and rear braking for low-speed conditions, Lane Keeping Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert, full-speed-range Adaptive Cruise Control and Automatic Parking Assist.
