Peugeot with a long and well-documented successful history in racing is delighted to announce Peugeot Abu Dhabi Racing and Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi’s exciting partnership in this year’s Dubai International Baja, the oldest motorsport event in the UAE, due to take place in March and the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. Sheikh Khalid has many thrilling victories and is the 2017 FIA World Champion in cross-country rallies in a 2 wd. The latest World Cup cross country race win is a first for Peugeot Abu Dhabi Racing and Sheikh Khalid Al Qassemi.

In a statement, Sheikh Khalid announced, “I’m delighted to be the official PEUGEOT driver; our partnership with PEUGEOT Middle East is very important to me and Abu Dhabi Racing. We are highly motivated to continue achieving great results and hopefully, together, we will defend our title for the 2nd season in a row as the FIA Cross-Country Rallies World Champion for the 2WD category.”

The Peugeot 3008 DKR absolutely ruled the 2017 Dakar Rally with an emphatic 1-2-3 finish, no mean feat, easily brushing off any opposition away on the road to victory. This year Peugeot cemented its dominance by winning the event again with its formidable Peugeot 3008 DKR.

Cedric Zayoun, Managing Director of the GCC region at PSA Group, stressed the Group’s keenness to support motorsport in the region and take part in different rallies especially the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, which has become a mainstay on the international motorsport calendar. He affirmed, “We would like to congratulate Sheikh Khalid bin Faisal Al Qassimi on his well-deserved win at the 2017 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge. We are very proud of him as a Peugeot ambassador who is always eager to reflect the brand’s image at its best and look forward to seeing him achieve great results with us in 2018.”

With a mutual admiration for and understanding of great cars in their DNA, Sheikh Khalid and Peugeot are certain to achieve great moments together in 2018 and beyond.
